Songs to add to your music list (Kpop of course)

I have been extremely busy trying to get the hang of my new position. It’s been fun so far and I am actually looking forward to learning more. But in the midst of a new position and an upcoming wedding, I have not been listening to new music lately. Most of the songs on my iPod are from the summer, which is saddening. At least for me.

Since I finally got some space to breath, I have decided to listen to some new music (of course Korean) and list them here. Now, some have a proper music video, while others are from a show, either awards show or a survival show. So here we go.

First up is Epik High. They are my most favourite hip hop group. Not just because of the flow of their rap but also because of their lyrics. They make sure to pull on your heartstrings in very creative ways. I know this song is not new but I have just heard it and I am completely obsessed with it.

Epik High – It’s Cold ft. Lee Hi

Next up is, Block B. Their new title song is pretty addicting. I haven’t had the chance to listen to the other songs in the album but I am sure I’ll like them as well. I tend to like most of their songs anyways. Though, I am more of a slow melody based songs, there are times when music like this is appealing as well.

Block B – Very Good

Aside from their title song, I also love the other song they came out as a preview for the album. It’s more of my style. I love the beat and the voices have such range in them, it’s amazing.

Block B – Be the Light

Alright, I am totally aware that this song is old and I remember downloading it when it came out, but I have only recently started listening to a bit more. Girl’s day is one of my most favourite groups. Not just one of my favourite girl group but overall they are at the top. For some reason, this song did not appeal to me when it first came out but it seems to have grown on me lately.

Girl’s Day – Expectation

Next up are few songs from the reality survival music show, Win: Who is Next. The final had few of the most amazing songs I have heard from the two groups ever. But there were other songs throughout the show that were appealing as well. I am a Team A bias, so you’ll notice that there are clearly few more songs by that team than Team B. This is not to say that I did not like the other group, I just thought that they were vocally not that strong. I would, though, like to take back that statement after watching the last episode. The vocalists from Team made the songs much more appealing compared to the rappers (who are always good).

These are not in any order btw.

Team A – Go Up

Team B – Climax

Team A - Smile Again

Team B – Just Another Boy

Team A – Just Another Boy

Team A – Officially Missing You

The new idol group BTS or Bangtan Boys are pretty similar to most hip hop groups that have debuted recently but their songs has certain charm in them. This is by far my most favourite. It may be because of the dance.

BTSWe are Bulletproof Pt. 2

There are hardly any songs by VIXX that I am not fond of but this one is on par with their song Don’t want to be an Idol. The reason for featuring this song here rather than the latter is simply because all the members provide vocals for this one. Yes, including the rapper. He sings. Doesn’t rap. It’s such a sweet song and you realize that though Ken and Leo are the best singers in the group, the others are pretty good as well. Especially N and Ravi, the latter being a rapper.

VIXX – Love Letter

So the next two songs are from NH Media, which houses my favourite group, U-Kiss! Alright, so first up from that company is Lim Chang Jung. He is a ballad singer from the 90s/early 2000s. This song is actually a trot music. Different but good. Though, the music video is the highlight. It is hilarious and has cameos from numerous people.

Lim Chang Jung – Open the Door

Next up is U-Kiss!!! The boys are back. But they are down to six members after Dongho, their youngest member’s, recent departure from the entertainment industry. It is saddening but it was expected. There were numerous times that kid wanted to run away and leave this business behind. It was his choice to join and his choice to leave it. Which makes me really proud of this kid. How many times have we changed our course in life? Quite a bit. So, nobody should attack the kid for leaving a career path he just didn’t want to be part of anymore.

Alright, back to the song. It is different from usual U-Kiss songs. But now that I think about it, it is hard to pinpoint a genre of music that the boys have made their own. As in, they keep on changing their type of music. Not because they are insecure but they are confident that they can make any type of music.

Lastly, this is a song by Soyou (or Soyu) from Sistar and Mad Clown (I am guessing he is a new solo artist). I love Soyu’s voice and the melody of the song. I don’t always like rap in a song, which is how most of Kpop songs are these days. Rap and vocal together. And only few do it good. This is pretty good. Not the best I have seen though.

Soyou & Mad Clown – Stupid Love
